Rare Disease Day 2020: Rare Superheroes

For Rare Disease Day, February 29, 2020, Cure Rare Disease teamed up with young men impacted by Duchenne muscular dystrophy to transform them into superheroes. We’re here to remind them that no matter what, they are strong, they are brave, and they are superheroes.

Devin, 10, chose to be transformed into the Flash because “he can run really fast, and I imagine me doing the same.”

Isaac, 6, chose to be transformed into Batman because “he is a real man with no powers yet he saves people.”

Aaden, 11, chose to be transformed into Captain America because he helps people!

Max, 4, chose batman because he is Max’s favorite superhero because he’s got the coolest mansion, the coolest suit, gets the coolest girls and has the most awesome cars!

Jared, 20, chose black panther, who is his favorite superhero because of his connection to African culture.

Keelan, 12, chose Batman “because he uses cool tools and gadgets and he catches the bad guys.”

Rick, 4, chose a Transformer “cause I like how he transforms into a tough hero.”

Gus, 14, chose Owen from Jurassic Park because “he is brave and kind to animals.”

Agus, 5, from CT, chose to be a dinosaur “because it’s funny to scare people as a dinosaur…and because they are green.”

Fritz, 3, chose his favorite superhero, spider-man. Fritz loves spiderman because he is super fast and can jump extremely far! Fritz can often be seen trying to mimic these movements with the occasional web blast as he plays superheroes with his two older brothers.

Caeden, 13, chose Spiderman because “he can climb a building and see the world.”

J.B., 11, chose Thor because “he is the God of Thunder and he is strong.”
